1) Make maximum use of the tools that are available to you. Use the google search engine to see how many times your keyword is mentioned in the title or body. Anaylze the competition.

2) Aim to find 3+ phrase keywords when starting of. If you find any 1 or 2 word keywords with no competition then great if not dont worry about it. You can try and rank for them later on down the road

3) Take your time. Keyword research is probably the most important part next to link building when building a website
